Tatami Fightwear Sponsors UKBJJA International Open Tournament 2018

The United Kingdom Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Association (UKBJJA) is proud to announce that Tatami Fightwear will be sponsoring the first UKBJJA International Open Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Tournament to be held in Motherwell, Scotland on 16 December 2018.

Tatami Fightwear, one of the world’s leading Brazilian Jiu Jitsu brands will be supplying the official t-shirts for the event.

With a prize fund of over £20,000, the UKBJJA International Open will be the largest BJJ event in Scotland’s history and one of the most prestigious events in the UK. The event will become an annual fixture on the UK BJJ calendar, moving to a different UK country each year

Held in the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell on 16 December, the competition will be offering cash prizes for adult and master blue, purple, brown and black belt divisions for both men and women. In addition, a junior event will be running at the same time.

Entry fees from spectators will be donated to local charity Cash4kids’ “Mission Christmas” scheme, which helps provide struggling families with food, presents, etc. at Christmas.

An opening ceremony will be attended by Provost Jean Jones and Clare Adamson MSP and the UKBJJA is expecting significant local and national media coverage, as well as heavy social media promotion.

About the UKBJJA:

The UKBJJA (www.ukbjja.org) is a not-for profit organisation which aims to provide a governance structure for the martial art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, that promotes and develops the sport while allowing individual clubs and practitioners the space and freedom to practice the martial art in the way they enjoy. The UKBJJA is currently under assessment to be recognised by Sport England as the governing body for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the UK.
