Press release -
London Development Agency (London): LDA launches international promotion of Royal Docks
The London Development Agency has launched its promotion of two major sites in the Royal Docks to international investors. The campaign will highlight the potential for growth at its Silvertown Quays and Royal Albert Dock sites, covering 85 acres of prime development land.
The marketing campaign will reach investors around the world, particularly in the emerging markets of China, elsewhere in Asia and the Middle East. The global search for development proposals coincides with moves to declare the Royal Docks a new Enterprise Zone.
Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said:
"This is another key milestone in the regeneration of east London. The 2012 Games are already transforming the area before our eyes so the time has never been better to unlock the potential of the Royal Docks and Silvertown Quays. There is no reason why, like the fantastic Olympic Park, the development of these two prime areas should not create a major new economic hub in our capital and a top class destination to live and work."
London Development Agency Director of Development Stephen Kennard said:
"With the eyes of the world on London in the run up to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, we want to capture this global interest and turn it into lasting investments that will shape the future of this stunning setting. Our Silvertown Quays and the Royal Albert Dock sites are prime locations and this campaign is announcing to the world that we are open for business."
The Mayor of Newham Sir Robin Wales said:
"London is moving east and there is huge potential here for investment, growth and greater prosperity. The Royal Docks are where London's future essential economic growth can truly thrive. There has never been a better time to invest in the new heart of London."
With notices in the UK and international property press, the first phase of the campaign will invite 'expressions of interest' in the two sites. The approaches will be managed by Knight Frank on Silvertown Quays and Drivers Jonas Deloitte on the Royal Albert Dock site. The formal process to select development partners will begin later in 2011.
The LDA will listen to any practical proposals for the regeneration of its land and will look to get an appropriate financial return and the best outcomes possible. The LDA aims to reach an agreement with a successful development partner or partners in 2012.
