Tower Hamlets, London Borough of (London): Online Social Care Catalogue Launched

Social care customers in Tower Hamlets will be able to search for services to meet their needs with a new online service directory.

Online Social Care Catalogue Launched

Residents with social care needs will now be able to find out about a range of local support services at the click of a button.

The Community Catalogue, on Tower Hamlets Council’s website, allows customers to find out about a range of services available locally.

The catalogue helps people to live more independently by giving more information and advice about the support options and the choices available across the borough.

Moving to an internet based catalogue as opposed to a traditional booklet means that the information can be updated continually. However, people can contact the Social Care Contact Team on 020 7364 5005 to discuss the range of options available to them and provide information about local support options.

Helen Taylor, Corporate Director for Adults Health and Wellbeing, who has worked on the development of the catalogue said: “After a number of months of planning and development it’s great to finally launch the catalogue to our residents. This project will continue to develop as more providers add their details to it and, most importantly, social care customers start to use the catalogue and provide feedback on how it can be further improved.

“People with support needs are increasingly having more and more say over their support packages and the services they access. The community catalogue is an integral part of this process and will help those individuals to make more informed choices to live life their way.”

The community catalogue has been developed with local voluntary, community and social care providers in the borough in partnership with Tower Hamlets Council. Anyone can access this information directly, however some users may need assistance or support from social workers or carers.
