Labour Party: Labour made great strides introducing shared parental leave for new parents - Denham
John Denham MP, Labour’s Shadow Business Secretary, responding to the Government's announcement on parental leave and flexible working, said:
“Labour made great strides introducing shared parental leave for new parents, allowing a greater flexibility in the early stages of a child’s life. Today’s announcement builds on this foundation, but won’t be available for at least four years.
"While families wait for this, they are seeing an attack on family life. Under this Tory-led Government, with the cost of living spiralling, they have delayed the extension of flexible working to parents with children under 17, removed new employment rights to workers in micro-businesses and are making cuts to vital services such as Sure Start.”
