Announcement as Queen’s visit highlights importance of Ireland-UK trade

In the week of the Queen’s historic visit to Ireland, customs declaration management software developer ABM Data Systems has announced that Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs (HMR&C) has added the Dublin headquartered company to its list of software providers for customs declaration management software products. All major customs procedures required by HMR&C are now supported by ABM’s flagship product, CustomsWare.

“It is coincidental that we received the news during the visit of the Queen to Ireland but it is a huge boost for the company,” commented Tony O’Grady, Business Development Director, ABM Data Systems. “We already operate in over 100 Irish sites but in view of the importance of UK-Ireland trade, this development provides a major opportunity to grow our customer base locally and internationally.”

He added that the potential market for the product is the 35m customs declarations in the UK each year. “Demand is being driven by the EU eCustoms initiative. This electronic customs project initiated by the European Commission aims to replace paper format customs declarations with EU wide electronic ones, thus creating a more efficient and modern customs environment. The addition of support for UK customs is a significant milestone for CustomsWare.”
