Press release -
Alterian: Alterian partners with BaaS and adds Greek language to SM2 sentiment analysis capability
Alterian, the leader in customer engagement technology and solutions, today announced its partnership with Greek partner, Business as a Service (BaaS), and the development of its social media monitoring tool SM2 to include the capability to track conversation sentiment in Greek. This will be the 60th language that SM2 detects with sentiment analysis in 24 languages, cementing Alterian’s position as the leading provider of social media monitoring for global markets. Alterian SM2 will be the first social media monitoring tool that tracks conversation sentiment in Greek.
With a population of 10.8 million, and 4.9 million ( 46.2%) actively online, the Greek market holds a number of new opportunities in the social media monitoring space. Since January, Alterian has worked alongside BaaS, a specialised business intelligence company, to programme the Greek dictionary and co-develop the Greek sentiment analysis as well as perform thorough tests to ensure results are accurate.
Bob Barker, VP of Corporate Marketing and Digital Engagement at Alterian believes that this is a positive development for global social media monitoring services:
“Social media monitoring has become an important tool for all marketers around the globe who are utilising it to learn more about the individuals in their audience and be able to better target the messages that they send to them. The internet isn’t restricted by geographical boundaries, so there is no reason why social media monitoring should be held back by differences in language. Alterian understands that there is a huge need in all global markets for accurate and effective social media monitoring services. By offering the most comprehensive language and sentiment capability available on the global market we are ensuring that social media monitoring can grow on both a local and global scale.”
Alex Casanis, Chief Executive Officer of BaaS continues:
“There is a clearly defined need from Greek businesses to be able to fully utilise social media as a business tool, however until now we have not been able to do so. Alterian caught our attention not only because it offers the most advanced Social Media Monitoring solution, but also because we strongly trust that its resources – both human and technical – guarantee a successful partnership. We look forward to working with them and the many Greek businesses that will benefit from this development”
