ROCKING AROUND THE CLOCK

Virgin Trains East Coast entertains customers with special dance performances by North Yorkshire students.

Customers at York station enjoyed colourful dance performances by 14-year-old students from Richmond School this week as they prepare to compete in the Northern Finals of the Rock Challenge on Friday 5 June 2015.

The group of 60 students designed the costumes and dance moves to illustrate the importance of being environmentally friendly. The series of performances in York station coincides with Stagecoach ‘Green Week’ which is supported by Virgin Trains East Coast.

Teacher Nicola O’Malley from Richmond School said: “We were all excited to perform for Virgin Trains East Coast customers and it was a great opportunity for our students to prepare for Rock Challenge in the Open Northern Final in Grimsby on Friday 2 June.”

Rehearsals for the performance began in October 2014 ahead of the Open Northern Final this Friday after the Richmond youngsters won the regional final held at the York Barbican earlier this year.

The Rock Challenge supports the Be Your Best Foundation which works to promote healthy lifestyles among young people.
