Press release -
Virgin Trains to provide extra seats for stranded airline passengers
A total of 7,000 extra seats will be provided by Virgin Trains over the next two days (Sunday and Monday 16 and 17 May) as airline passengers face more uncertainty due to the closure of sections of UK airspace because of volcanic ash clouds.
Most of the additional capacity will be on Anglo Scottish services on two routes – Birmingham to Glasgow and Edinburgh and London (Euston) to Glasgow. There will also be some longer trains particularly tomorrow on the line between London and Holyhead to connect with ferries to Dublin.
For details of times and fares and for booking tickets visit virgintrains.com or any Virgin Trains ticket office.
A decision on the level of service to be run on Tuesday 18 May will be made in the light of further updated forecasts from the Met Office.
