Press release -

Bannockburn Live right on track

Scotland’s rail operator has teamed up with VisitScotland to support one of the most exciting family events of the summer – Bannockburn Live (28-29 June).

As lead sponsor, ScotRail will have a high-profile brand presence before and during the event. The deal also includes event tickets for promotional activity with customers.

Bannockburn Live, organised by VisitScotland and Unique Events, is expected to welcome up to 20,000 people over the weekend of 28-29 June with a feast of music, battle performances, food and drink and family entertainment planned.

The announcement came as more details are released about the activity for families planned at the event including storytelling, falconry, shield and crown-making workshops and face painting. New music artists announced to join acts such as Dougie Maclean and Julie Fowlis at the event include Stirling-based Precious Penny Pluckers and No More Cages.

Caroline Packman, Director of Homecoming Scotland, said: “We are thrilled that First ScotRail is sponsoring Bannockburn Live. As Scotland’s main train operator, they assist communities and visitors alike to travel within our stunning country.

“The Bannockburn Live event programme is getting bigger by the day with many wonderful musicians and entertainers adding themselves to the already bumper line up. We are going to have a great time!”

Sean Duffy, Commercial Director of ScotRail said: “More and more people rely on rail travel to enjoy days out in Scotland – and Bannockburn Live is set to be one of the highlights of Homecoming.”

Bannockburn Live is one of over 800 events in the Homecoming Scotland 2014 programme which includes the Forth Bridges Festival, Whisky Month, John Muir Festival, Ryder Cup Concert, World Sheepdog Trials and the MTV Europe Music Awards.
