'Miles Checks Out' and 'Bright Spark' - two new EP’s from The Dowling Poole
The Dowling Poole have released two new EP's this autumn. First off the block was the brand new song 'Miles Checks Out', which features two bonus tracks, 'Saving It All For A Saturday' and 'Getting A Licence', both of which are live acoustic performances, recorded in Manchester 2015. The bonus tracks are acoustic versions of ‘full electric’ recordings, first heard on the bands debut album 'Bleak Strategies', which was released in 2014.
The second EP features the new song 'Bright Spark', along with two more live acoustic performances; 'The Sun Is Mine' and 'Where The Memories Fester', also originally recorded for the 'Bleak Strategies’ album.
"The new EP's are released exclusively as digital downloads, as part of a new strategy we’re trying, in a world full of distractions and ever-decreasing attention span, to try and maintain a kind of continual presence, rather than disappear for a year to record new material, as we have been prone to do thus far”, says Willie Dowling.
Jon Poole continues:
“Every time we go off map to start a new album, it feels like we have to start again in some respects, and we wanted to remind people on a more regular basis, that we’re still here and still trying to make an impact. Also, we recently started a webshop, where you’ll find physical CD’s and vinyls of the albums ‘Bleak Strategies’ and ‘One Hyde Park’, amongst various other items including t-shirts and posters".
The Dowling Poole will continue to write and record new songs for upcoming releases and are currently doing their level best to make a final EP of the year, titled 'Deep Breath', available before Christmas.
Live in London Saturday 17 December
The Dowling Poole are playing full electric live band, supporting The Wildhearts at London’s o2 Forum Kentish Town on December 17th. Tickets here. The Dowling Poole are on stage at 7pm. Doors open at 6pm and there are seven bands playing, so get there early!
For this live performance Willie Dowling and Jon Poole are joined as usual, by Givvi Flynn on vocals and guitar, Andy Lewis on bass and vocals, and Elliot Vaughan on drums.
About The Dowling Poole
The Dowling Poole is formed by singer-songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Willie Dowling and Jon Poole. Their first album 'Bleak Strategies' was a Top 20 Indie album and with Mojo describing it as “A classic British rock album heavy on powerpop smarts 4/5”. Classic Rock magazine hailed the album as “one of the most gorgeously idiosyncratic records to emerge in years 9/10”.
Influenced by pop masters such as XTC, ELO, Blur, 10cc, The Kinks, The Beatles and more, The Dowling Poole – described by The Sun as “an awesome pairing 4.5/5”, have once more created an eclectic and contemporary sounding mix of semi-psychedelic pop, somehow quintessentially British-sounding, laced with harmonies and a multitude of influences from the best of 50 years of rock and popular music.
