yoomi crowned English winner of “The Pitch 2012”

Jim has just returned from a business competition which makes Dragon’s Den look like a play date! Hosted at the impressive Maritime Museum in Liverpool, the UK’s top 80 entrepreneurs were invited to a 2 day pitching event at which they presented their business to a panel of expert judges (including the formidable serial entrepreneur Karen Darby) in front of a live audience.

The competition was fierce but of course Jim kept his cool and we’re very proud to inform you that he won the Regional heat and was officially crowned the English winner of The Pitch 2012!! The 4 regional winners are (all fantastic businesses by the way…)

• England – Jim Shaikh, yoomi
• Scotland – Sam Zawadski, AdvancetoGO
• Wales – Alba McConnell, Rio – A Taste of Brazil
• Northern Ireland – Shauna McCarney, Heavenly Tasty Organics

As well as the four winners, the judges selected 22 wildcards, who will now take part in a public vote. The two entrepreneurs with the most votes will take the fifth and sixth places at The Pitch 2012 Grand Final at London’s iconic Ministry Of Sound nightclub on Friday 16 November.
