Benjamin Ingrosso wrestles with his love life on new double single

“Funny Feeling” and “Waste My Time” will be released on 18 September via EMI Nordic

When Benjamin Ingrosso last released new music, he dominated both the Grammis Awards and P3 Guld, taking home more awards than any other artist at both ceremonies for his critically acclaimed album Pink Velvet Theatre.

Now, returning with his first new material in almost two years, Ingrosso pushes his sound in a new direction. His first two singles, “Funny Feeling” and “Waste My Time”, explore a love life that did not unfold as he had hoped.

Ingrosso’s musical metamorphosis over recent years has been impossible to ignore. With more than one billion global streams, three chart-topping albums, numerous gold- and platinum-certified singles and several sold-out, record-breaking tours, he has firmly established himself as one of Sweden’s most successful pop artists of the 2020s.

At the height of his recent success, Ingrosso was also struggling with a turbulent love life. What began as an attempt to find love became the start of a very different journey. His destructive relationship patterns ultimately forced him to confront the parts of himself he liked least and to question who he was and who he wanted to become. A creative block that had held him back for almost a year suddenly lifted, and the new songs began to pour out of him.

On “Funny Feeling” and “Waste My Time”, Ingrosso does everything he can to be chosen, moving between romance, sexual euphoria and complete emotional self-deception.

The A-side, “Funny Feeling”, moves between soul-pop and mellow disco, driven by a bright pop piano. Its seemingly carefree backing vocals nod to the alternative pop of the 1990s.

“I always fall in love in the kind of way you normally only see in films. It feels as though I’m living in one of the 1990s romantic comedies I’ve been obsessed with since I was a child. I’m prepared to do anything, and I lose sight of everything else in my life. I always think I’ve found the right person, but then things take a completely different turn,” says Benjamin Ingrosso.

The B-side, “Waste My Time”, is a more propulsive track, combining new wave with the melodic pop-rock choruses of the 2000s. At the same time, the intimate vocal creates the feeling of listening to a friend share his late-night thoughts.

“Being chosen and rejected over and over again does strange things to you. Even though you know how terrible you’ll feel afterwards, it only pulls you in more deeply. It becomes an addiction. The feeling that each time might be the last is more powerful than anything I’ve experienced before,” Ingrosso continues.

The new material was written and recorded across Sweden, the United States and England before being completed during two intensive weeks in July at Benny Andersson’s Riksmixningsverket studio in Stockholm.

Acclaimed American indie-rock producer and songwriter Jonathan Rado, whose credits include Miley Cyrus, The Killers and Father John Misty, co-wrote and executive-produced both tracks alongside frequent collaborator Kane Ritchotte, known for his work with Sombr, Phoebe Bridgers and Role Model.

“Funny Feeling” also features contributions from David Stewart, who has worked with BTS, Hailee Steinfeld, Griff and Shania Twain. Stewart previously produced “Look Who’s Laughing Now” for Ingrosso’s last album.

Jon Shave, whose credits include RAYE, Charli XCX, Miley Cyrus and Zara Larsson, contributed to “Waste My Time”. Shave previously co-wrote “Kite” from Pink Velvet Theatre.

“Funny Feeling” and “Waste My Time” will be released on 18 September via EMI Nordic.

On 23 October, Ingrosso will begin an 11-date Nordic arena tour in Karlstad. The tour concludes with two nights at Stockholm’s Avicii Arena on 13 and 14 November.

About Benjamin Ingrosso

Benjamin Ingrosso’s victory at Melodifestivalen in 2018 marked the beginning of a remarkable career. A celebrated appearance on Så Mycket Bättre followed in 2020, along with three seasons of his own TV show, Benjamins, which ran from 2021 to 2023 and featured many of Sweden’s leading artists performing live in his kitchen.

His Swedish-language album En gång i tiden established Ingrosso as a gifted songwriter in the eyes of music critics. Following the sold-out Allt det vackra tour in 2023 and Better Days tour in 2024, he was also widely recognised as one of Sweden’s finest live entertainers.

In autumn 2024, Ingrosso released the concept album Pink Velvet Theatre, created in close collaboration with Salem Al Fakir and Vincent Pontare. The following year, it received more awards than any other release at both P3 Guld and the Grammis Awards.

In the intimate three-part documentary This Is Benjamin, Ingrosso shared some of the most euphoric moments from the most intense period of his career. He also spoke candidly about his struggles with self-loathing and the challenges he faced during his first US headline tour in early 2025.

In autumn 2026, Benjamin Ingrosso returns with new music and embarks on What Happens Next?, his first-ever arena tour.
