Press release —
FROM HELSINKI TO NASHVILLE: INGRID UNVEILS NEW SINGLE “RUIN & REASON”
Finland-Swede Ingrid made a major breakthrough on Swedish Idol 2025 and is now preparing to release her new single, “Ruin & Reason,” today on April 24. The self-written track, which she first performed during her widely praised audition, was conceived during a songwriting session in Nashville and marked the beginning of her journey on the show. Now, it is finally set for a full release.
“Ruin & Reason” came to life during a songwriting trip to Nashville last spring, prior to Idol, where Ingrid collaborated with fellow songwriters. Just weeks later, she performed the song in front of the Idol jury, a moment that left a lasting impression on both the judges and the viewers.
– ”Ruin & Reason” is about all-consuming love, desperation, admiration, and longing for something - or someone - you don’t have. It’s about giving your all and only getting half in return, yet being unable to let go. For me, it’s about music and the constant cycle of comparing yourself and being compared to others, but it can mean anything to the listener, says Ingrid.
Ingrid reached a broad audience through Idol 2025, quickly becoming a fan favorite thanks to her unique voice and emotional depth. Her sound today blends modern country and pop, with every song rooted in storytelling. During the season, her widely praised duet of “Glasshouse” with Jay Smith was so well received that their version was officially released earlier this year.
Originally from Helsinki, Ingrid was crowned Finland’s Lucia in 2020 at Helsinki Cathedral as part of a nationwide charity initiative. It was during that time she realized she wanted to pursue music wholeheartedly. Shortly after graduating, she moved to London to study music.
While she grew up surrounded by pop and Swedish music, country entered Ingrid’s life later, during her years in London when she began writing more actively. Since then, she has built her artistry step by step with a strong personal drive - guided by curiosity and openness.
– I’ve always believed that anything is possible. Life is too short not to try.
Today, Ingrid is based in Stockholm and is fully committed to her career. More music is expected throughout the year, alongside live performances. She will, among other things, open for KAJ on tour and perform at Haywater, one of Finland’s biggest country festivals.
– This is just the beginning. I want to keep making music that feels real, perform live, and grow as an artist. Idol opened so many doors, now it’s up to me to run through them.
“Ruin & Reason” is out today.
