Press release —
SWEDISH POP ARTIST PATRIK JEAN RETURNS WITH NEW DANCE SINGLE “FATAL EYES”
Following a return to Sweden’s Eurovision stage earlier this year, the Swedish pop artist and songwriter Patrik Jean returns with his new single “Fatal Eyes”, a euphoric pop dance track exploring the thrill of losing yourself in someone and the fear that comes with giving up control.
The release follows a major start to the year for LGBTQI+ artist Patrik Jean, who returned to Melodifestivalen, Sweden’s National Selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, with “Dusk Till Dawn”. The appearance marked his first time back in the competition since making his debut with “Tears Run Dry” in 2021.
Now, “Fatal Eyes” takes that new chapter from the Eurovision stage to the dancefloor, capturing the intoxicating feeling of falling so deeply for someone that everything else seems to disappear.
- Fatal Eyes is about a love that completely takes over and makes you lose your footing. It’s an incredible feeling, but also quite scary to let go of control and fully surrender to it. I wrote the song on a warm summer day with producer Karl Flyckt. At first, it was called "Quicksand", which still remains as a line in the verse. Maybe it was the heat that made our minds wander to the desert, says Patrik Jean.
With 80 million streams as an artist and more than 400 million as a songwriter, Patrik Jean has established himself as one of Sweden’s most versatile pop talents. His songwriting credits include songs for James Arthur, Callum Scott and Marcus & Martinus, alongside radio number ones in Germany and gold and platinum certifications across multiple countries and placements in TV shows including American Idol and RuPaul’s Drag Race.
As a solo artist, Patrik has earned a gold certification for “Lean on Me”, international radio success and playlist support across more than 20 countries. He has also collaborated with DJs including Felix Jaehn, Topic, Sevenn and Ilkay Sencan and toured arenas across Germany.
With “Fatal Eyes”, Patrik Jean continues to bring together emotional vulnerability and dance driven pop, offering another glimpse into the next era of his artistry.
“Fatal Eyes” is out September 25th via Polydor/Universal Music.
