ABOUT Attana AB
- Balancing power and simplicity in molecular interactions studies

Based in Stockholm, Sweden, Attana was founded with the goal of becoming a world leader within the sensor technologies for detecting, registering and measuring chemical and biochemical reactions. Based on the continuous-flow Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM) technology for real time, label-free molecular interaction studies, Attana has developed the next generation biosensor for high quality and high accuracy measurements. Attana believes in innovation, dedication, and being customer and solutions oriented in our operations and activities. Our systems have since 2003 been employed at leading universities and biotech companies in a wide variety of research fields within the life sciences in Europe and the USA.

ABOUT the Technology
Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM) can be explained as a very sensitive scale or balance capable of measuring atomic changes in mass. By applying an AC-potential to a piezoelectric quartz crystal, it can be controlled to oscillate at its resonance frequency. When molecules are added to, or removed from the surface, the change in the resonance frequency can be converted to a mass response. By immobilizing a specific molecule (the target) to the surface of the crystal and letting a sample flow over the surface, the target's interaction with the sample can efficiently be studied in real time. The real time information provided can include detail kinetics, affinity, specificity, and active concentration determination data even in crude samples analysis.
