This one day course is a great building block for those who want to study mosaics over a period of time, are interested in doing larger projects in the future, or just want to experiment with the mosaic medium. Kate will cover types of materials available, tools and their use, setting, grouting, sealing and finishing. You will also be introduced to some historical high points, including masterfully designed Greek and Roman mosaics. Students will receive tools, materials and grouting. This enjoyable process for any skill level uses color, shape and pattern to help you generate your own piece to take home. The tesserae you will use to assemble your mosaic are all hand-made colorful bits of glazed ceramic tile. Feel free to bring any broken favorite items to start a new life!
