Say Hello to Shazam’s New Chief Technology Officer

We are extremely excited to welcome Richard Sharp as Shazam’s new Chief Technology Officer. A huge part of the Shazam magic lies with its world-leading music technology, and Richard will oversee the team behind it all—as well as the delivery of new, innovative experiences for our hundreds of millions of global users.

Prior to Shazam, Richard led the product team responsible for banking-comparison products at Google, and more recently, he was CTO at Yieldify, a Google Ventures-backed marketing technology startup. Richard holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge, where he remains a teaching fellow and director of studies for computer science.

"I'm passionate about music and have relied on Shazam to discover great new artists and tracks for almost as long as I can remember,” said Sharp. “I couldn't be more excited to join a company with such a well-loved and ubiquitous product. I'm looking forward to working with our world-class engineering team to extend our leadership in music recognition while continuing to deliver magical new experiences for artists, users and brands.”

Based in Shazam's London office, Richard will report to CEO Rich Riley. The whole Shazam family is excited to welcome Richard, and we can’t wait to work with him!
