Digital Advertising Technology Veteran Joins Shazam’s Executive Team

(New York) August 31st , 2016 - Shazam, one of the world’s most popular mobile apps, today announced the appointment of Jeff Pabst as the company’s new Vice President, Advertising Sales, of its West Coast Region. Pabst, who will report to CRO Greg Glenday, is a 13-year LA digital media sales executive coming to Shazam from leading social data provider ShareThis. At ShareThis, Pabst served as SVP of National Sales—overseeing a robust US sales team with very healthy revenues.

He helped launch the ShareThis advertising platform in 2010, opened and staffed the first West Coast sales offices, and turned ShareThis into a best-in-class industry leader in the social sharing category. Based in Shazam’s LA office, Pabst will focus on exponential revenue growth and lead Shazam’s global revenue strategies. Pabst will help Shazam create innovative new ad formats that build on the magic of Shazam’s unique mix of display, audio, visual, and location-based technologies.

“We are thrilled to welcome a talent like Jeff Pabst into the Shazam family,” said Greg Glenday, Chief Revenue Officer, Shazam. “Jeff has been deeply involved in the digital advertising landscape on the West Coast for over a decade and brings a terrific reputation, strong relationships, and strategic thinking to Shazam. Hiring a talented leader like Jeff underscores both our commitment to our early brand partners and our response to the rapid growth of our advertising business.”

Pabst has long-standing relationships and a strong reputation in the LA ad marketplace. He has a proven track record for cultivating talent, being a smart, strategic, creative marketer, and exceeding revenue targets in a multi-stage startup environment. Prior to ShareThis, he worked at adtech company Specific Media (rebranded as Viant) after launching his career at radio rep firm Interep. Pabst’s Shazam tenure started Aug. 8, beginning with meetings across the company’s various teams, with a transitional period continuing over the next few weeks.

“I’ve been a power user of Shazam for almost a decade and jumped at the opportunity to work for a company with world class tech, smart people, and such a creative canvas for marketers,” said Jeff Pabst, Vice President West Coast Advertising Sales, Shazam. “The launch of Shazam for Brands is a game changer for advertisers and I look forward expanding our partnerships on the West Coast.”
