Bravo, Oxygen and Syfy Make Summer TV Lineup Shazamable!

London, UK – May 26, 2011 - Shazam®, the world’s leading mobile discovery company, today announced Shazam for TV will feature programs this summer from Bravo, Oxygen and Syfy.  Shazamable programs will launch Memorial Day weekend with new shows being added throughout the coming months.

“Shazam for TV offers the ultimate fan experience, going beyond simply ‘checking in’ by connecting fans to celebrities, hidden content and exclusive offers for their favorite shows.” said David Jones, Executive Vice President Marketing at Shazam. “Just as Shazam did for music, Shazam for TV is revolutionizing the way we watch TV – no new gadgets or equipment required, just a smartphone with the Shazam App makes watching TV a more fun and interactive experience.”

With Shazam’s unparalleled reach of more than 125 million users, Shazam for TV gives viewers a “second screen” experience and the opportunity to engage with their favorite shows.  By Shazaming the shows they love, users can not only get access to content not available elsewhere, they can also share their tags on Twitter or use the Shazam Friends feature to share their discoveries with their Facebook friends and see a real-time feed of what their friends are watching.

The following Shazam for TV programming will begin on Bravo, Oxygen and Syfy this summer:

  • Starting Monday, May 30, 2011 at 10 pm ET, Bravo’s songwriting competition  “Platinum Hit” will feature three Shazamable moments in each premiere episode that will unlock bonus content that will enhance the viewing experience. Bonus content will include playlists from the judges and contestants, full performances of each week’s winning song and footage from the judges’ deliberation.
  • Oxygen’s new show, “The Glee Project” launches Sunday, June 12, 2011 at 9 p.m. ET, and gives contestants the opportunity to win a role on the hit show, Glee.   Shazamers can tag the show to see exclusive content tied to what’s happening in the episode right at that moment.
  • Syfy’s “Alphas” launches Monday, July 11 at 10 p.m. ET and follows a team of people with superpowers, whose ability comes at a price. Shazaming the show will give fans the opportunity to engage with even more exciting, super-powered content from the show.

In 2010, Syfy was among the first American television channels to partner with Shazam, which provided exclusive content from the network's hit programs "Eureka" and "Warehouse 13" and, in 2011, "Being Human."Additionally, beginning in June, all of Bravo’s “Summer by Bravo” promo commercials on television, in theaters, and online will be Shazamable, giving fans extra information about the spot.

For consumers who don't yet have the Shazam application on their smartphone, it can be found on iTunes App Store, Android Market, AT&T’s AppCenter, Verizon VCast app store, the Ovi Store by Nokia, Windows Phone Marketplace, BlackBerry App World, and GetJar.
