Swedish Workshop international event in Falun

Visit Sweden’s yearly sales event, Swedish Workshop, is coming to Falun on the 18th & 19th of May, after being postponed for two years because of the pandemic, it’s finally time for Dalarna to welcome international travel agents to a meeting and marketing event which will create more and better business for the hospitality industry.

On the 18th and 19th of May, the international sales event Swedish Workshop is being held in Falun, organised by Visit Sweden in close partnership with Visit Dalarna. Swedish Workshop is a recurring event for meeting and marketing between Swedish tourism companies and foreign travel agents. The purpose is to create and develop new contacts and generate business.

About 70 tour operators and agents from Great Britain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, France, China, USA, Canada, Denmark, Norway and Finland as well as about 80 participants from Swedish destinations and companies will be arriving in Falun. Companies from Dalarna such as Stöten, Grönklittsgruppen and Green Owl Travel will be taking part.

‘After two years of the pandemic and hardly any international visitors, we’re now taking a new direction to bring back the ones we’ve lost. Of course we want to attract new visitors too, and encourage even more people to visit Sweden and Dalarna. That’s why Swedish Workshop is an incredibly valuable opportunity for creating and developing contacts with international tour operators, which in turn generate future long-term business partnerships for Dalarna's hospitality companies’, says Tatjana Summermatter, International Business Developer at Visit Dalarna.

Workshops, speed dating, and FAM trips

The programme starts on 18th May with a workshop day for the Swedish participants. In the evening there will be an inauguration with a Midsummer theme at the Dalarna Museum in Falun.

The Swedish Workshop itself takes place on the 19th May at the Falu Gruva. On the agenda there is a ‘speed dating’ meeting between the international travel agents and the Swedish sales agents, among other things.

The Swedish Workshop will finish with an evening event at Magasinet in Falun, with dinner, entertainment and another chance to mingle.

In connection with Swedish Workshop, Visit Dalarna is also arranging FAM trips for participating travel agents. This will give them the opportunity to discover more and increase their interest in including Dalarna in their offers.

‘A lot of international visitors book their trips via travel agents, which means it’s very important for Dalarna to be included in their range of products. We aim to be an obvious choice when guests are booking their travels. It’s also great to promote Dalarna’s wide-ranging and exciting range of experiences to travel agents and see how that leads to more booking for companies here in Dalarna’, says Tatjana Summermatter.
