The Waterfront Congress Center further strengthens Stockholm

A new lavish hotel and congress center further strengthens Stockholm’s reputation as one of Europe’s leading cities to host meetings and conferences. Built on the waters’ edge, right in the heart of the Swedish capital, Stockholm Waterfront Congress Center and Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel, are now Scandinavia’s largest facilities for meetings and events.

“The congress center will certainly help to establish Stockholm as one of the leading European MICE destinations”, said Kurt Ritter, chief executive officer of Rezidor Hotel Group. “It is the largest congress center in Scandinavia, and there is nothing comparable around in Stockholm and Sweden.”

The International Congress & Convention Association (ICCA) has already identified Stockholm as one of the best congress-hosting cities in the world, with hotel rooms increasing by 50 percent in the last ten years and new hotels opening this year.

Are you worried that the market might become overheated?
“Stockholm is certainly a busy market, but still offers room for market growth – if one finds the right product for the right market niche. I think we did this with the hotel and congress center”, Kurt Ritter said.

Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel has been designed by one of the country’s most renowned architectural agencies, White arkitekter, and features contemporary interiors by London-based RPW Design. Stockholm Waterfront Congress Center and Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel opened on January 20th, 2011.
