Increase: 754 000 guest nights in April 2013
754 000 guest nights was made in hotels and other commercial accommodations in Stockholm County during April 2013. It is an increase by 13 700, +2 percent, compared to the same period last year. Sweden in total experienced a decline in the number of guest nights.
Guest nights from Swedish visitor increased by 9%. Foreign visitors' overnight stays decreased during the same time by 12%. The largest decline in foreign visits was noted for visitors from Europe outside the Nordic countries (-17%), especially from Germany, Italy, Spain and France. The number of foreign bednights increased from large markets like UK and USA.
Stockholm is the engine in Swedens tourism with an increase of 2 % in April. The number of guest nights in Sweden in total fell by 5% during the same period.
During the past ten years the number of bed nights has doubled. And the goal is to reach 15 million bed nights nights by 2020. In 2012, Stockholm had 10.8 million bed nights. So far this year, Stockholm has 2.7 million bed nights, which is a decrease of 1 percent compared with the same period last year.
