North-eastern Scotland is home to Brewdog, and with no less than three bars in the centre of Aberdeen, this self-declared craft beer pioneer is an absolute must. The Granite City, as Aberdeen is often called, has no less than seven bars that only serve beer from local microbreweries. Some of them have joined forces to create a craft beer kilometre, providing a pre-planned route for enthusiasts wanting to sample the delicious, local brew.

Aberdeen’s granite mile, otherwise known as Union Street, is a good starting point for anyone wanting to explore the city’s night life. The side streets here are home to several of the best bars in the city, including Scotland’s number one cocktail bar, Orchid.

If you’re after an authentic taste of Scotland, you should go for a dram of whisky. CASC (Cigars, Ale, Scotch & Coffee) serves local whiskies, such as Glen Garioch, which is distilled less than 20 km from the city centre.

Call into Grape & Grain, a luxurious wine bar, or 21 Crimes, the city’s only speakeasy. If you can find it! Club Tropicana and Vogue are perfect destinations for party animals with a penchant for hits from the 80s and 90s, while the sophisticated clubs of NOX and Babylon offer more modern music.

If you’re feeling lucky, Soul Bar & Casino may be the place for you. It’s situated in an old church in the heart of the city. And we mustn’t forget The Tunnels. Tucked away under historic Union Street, you will find one of Aberdeen’s best live stages. Music-lovers can enjoy DJ sets and club nights lasting well into the wee hours.
