Online yoga studio Yoogaia wins ‘Largest Global Potential’ Award in the Best Mobile Service 2015 competition in Slush2015

12 November 2015: Yoogaia, a global online yoga service offering live, interactive classes, has won the “Novel Mobile Service with Largest Global Potential” category which is the Grand Prize in the Best Mobile Service 2015 competition. Yoogaia’s popularity is growing quickly around the world and Yoogaia’s App has been chosen as one of the best new apps on the App Store in over 100 countries around the world.

There were more than 100 nominees in six different categories participating in the national competition and judges were looking for the best health and wellness services as well as services in utility and productivity, and industrial internet. The competition was organized in cooperation with Teleforum ry, the Federation of Finnish Technology Industries and several other actors within the industrial life. The jury foreperson was the Minister of Transport and Communications Anne Berner.

“The ability to produce digital services of high quality will be one of the cornerstones of Finland’s success in the future. The Best Mobile Service competition is a good way to highlight great services and their makers. It is especially delightful to see how the Finnish app developers are brave enough to aim straight for the international top and that the services are designed with that in mind from the beginning”, Berner says.

Yoogaia aims to go global with the help of mobile apps. Different wellness apps are very popular and some other yoga apps exist already. However, the Finnish Yoogaia’s app is the world’s first interactive app that allows you to communicate with a yoga instructor. Yoogaia is already available through Apple’s App Store and will be released for Android early next year.

‘Most people always carry their phone or tablet with them, so it’s natural to use it also when attending live yoga classes. The iPhone and iPad apps have received a lot of positive feedback. We are happy to soon be able to offer the same customer experience also for Android users,’ says Kaisa Soininen, Chief Product Officer at Yoogaia.

The award ceremony was organized at Slush’ Black Stage on Thursday November 12th at about 7.45 PM. Information about the participants and the winners can be found onwww.bestmobileservice.fi.
