Urbanears presents Listen to yourself by Joy.

Urbanears is excited to launch its new collaboration within “Listen to yourself”,
a new brand initiative for creative minds who listen to their inner voice and make this voice their guide. With style and minimalism at the core of Urbanears’ identity, the brand’s headphones and speakers are a canvas for self-expression.

Following successful collaborations with creators like world renown artist, Tove
Lo, and photographer, Arvida Byström, Urbanears has now chosen to collaborate with rapper and artist, Joy M’Batha.

Listen to yourself by Joy

Urbanears’ collaboration with Joy M’Batha began early 2018 for the launch of the Lotsen speaker. Now, the collaboration continues with the campaign “Listen to yourself”, which is embodied through Joy- her history and personality. Joy M’Batha had her big breakthrough in 2014 as one of Sweden’s biggest rappers and received a lot of attention for her unique appearance, her cocky attitude and explosive shows on stage. Following some intense years in Stockholm, Joy moved back to her home- town, Malmö, to catch her breath and reflect. Art and painting, which had been a major part of her childhood, became her new way of expressing herself and her creativity.

“Creating has always been my way of processing what I’ve gone through. Sometimes it’s music, sometimes it’s art.
I am not doing it for anyone else. I am just myself, and I have always been. To me, that is exactly what Listen to yourself is all about,” said Joy M’Batha.

Today, when it comes to Joy’s career, her art is equally as important as her music.

Joy describes her art as self-portraits of her psyche, as she paints exactly what she feels and wants. As part of the Listen to yourself campaign, Joy has expressed her unique artistry and creativity by painting on Urbanears’ speakers and headphones, including Plattan 2 Bluetooth, Stammen and Baggen.

Through this collaboration, Urbanears, along with Grammy nominated director Nicolina Knapp, has produced a film that takes you into Joy’s creative universe, which is characterized by strong self-confidence and complex boundlessness.

Art Exhibition at Snickarbacken 7

The collaboration with Urbanears and Listen to yourself is Joy’s first art exhibition in Stockholm. The exhibition on Snickarbacken 7 will feature Joy’s width and emotional spectrum through various works, both old and new, in different formats.

The art exhibition “Listen to yourself by Joy” will be showcased between November 23-29 at Snickarbacken 7
in Stockholm. In November, Joy is also releasing an EP with four new songs in English, and in January 2019, she will take the stage for an exclusive Sweden Tour.
