Bruun Rasmussen marks the 100th anniversary of the sale of the Danish West Indies to the United States at the spring’s international coin auction in Copenhagen, where an outstanding private collection with almost all types of coins from the Danish West Indies is up for auction.

Bruun Rasmussen’s international coin auction of the spring, will take place in Copenhagen on Tuesday 10 May with a total of 724 lots spread out over three catalogues, which contain two large private coin collections - including a unique, royal presentation set from 1854 estimated at DKK 100,000.

The biggest coin auction of the spring will be held at Bruun Rasmussen in Copenhagen on Tuesday 8 May, where 530 hand-picked coins, medals and banknotes will come under the hammer. The biggest highlight is an extremely large 4 Speciedaler from 1624, made of silver from the Norwegian mountains at Kongsberg west of Oslo.

Auction history was achieved at Bruun Rasmussen in Copenhagen Tuesday afternoon when a bundle of Chinese notes from 1854 was sold for DKK 1.4 million (€ 245,000 including buyer’s premium). This is the highest hammer price ever achieved at a coin auction in Denmark.
