New Cyber Resilience Centre launches to secure future of Greater Manchester businesses

Greater Manchester Police and Manchester Digital have launched the Cyber Resilience Centre, a new not-for-profit venture supported by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, which will work to keep Greater Manchester’s business community safe against cyber crime.

The programme, which will be accessible to businesses of all sizes across Greater Manchester, will look to promote the preventative measures organisations can implement to enhance their security posture, and provide support to those who have been affected by a cyber attack.

As a founding partner, NCC Group will support the initiative’s critical work to help protect the business community across Greater Manchester from the threat of cyber crime. This will include advising the centre on employing the right talent, connecting businesses to the strongest support networks, and managing the costs of implementing measures of cyber security.

Steve Boughton, global operations director at NCC Group, said: “This is an extremely important initiative and we are proud to be working with the centre to safeguard Greater Manchester’s business community. Cyber crime is an increasing concern as the region’s digital sector continues to grow, so it’s vital that we equip businesses with the tools and knowledge to enhance their security postures."

“While there are many successful national initiatives being driven to secure the UK, it’s important to consider how securing communities at a local level can help our overall position."

This news builds on NCC Group's ongoing work to engage with and embed cyber resilience in businesses across the UK, including its work in Scotland with the Scottish Business Resilience Centre.

Mike Upton, sales manager at NCC Group added: "We're delighted to see the hard work we've done to promote cyber resilience in Scotland being replicated in Greater Manchester.

"Engaging with relevant organisations and bodies at a local level is crucial – especially given the amount of sensitive data that is collected and used by these organisations. By working together with both the Cyber Resilience Centre and Scottish Business Resilience Centre, we will not only be one step closer to achieving cyber resilience in Greater Manchester, but also in making society safer and more secure across the UK.”
