Next week Perrine Geraudie from Akvaplan-niva will join a cruise going from Longyearbyen to Franz Josef Land with the Russian cruise operator Poseidon Expeditions. The name of the boat is Sea Spirit and he cruise lasts from 13-26 August. During the cruise Geraudie will assist tourists in collecting data on plastics/marine litter.

Akvaplan-niva is partner in a prestigious research in collaboration with long-term Russian partner Murmansk Marine Biological Institute (MMBI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The project was granted 6 mill. NOK from the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia.

Alexei Bambulyak from Akvaplan-niva held a presentation at the international forum EcoArctic held in Naryan-Mar, Nenets region Russia in March. The forum was initiated and organized by the Administration of the Nenets Autonomous District and Rosneft, the largest petroleum company in Russia.

The Glider project, led by Akvaplan-niva in Tromsø Norway, was presented and met with great interest at two different events in Russia this year, NORWEB Gazprom workshop during Offshore Marintec Russia 2018 in St. Petersburg in October and in July at an event arranged by Rosneft in Murmansk.

Akvaplan-niva has participated in a scenario project on international cooperation in the development of Arctic petroleum resources. The scenarios, which are based on comprehensive multidisciplinary studies, are presented in the book "International Arctic Petroleum Cooperation: Barents Sea Scenarios".

This week Akvaplan-niva is presenting its services at the Arctic Shipping Forum (ASF) conference and exhibition in Helsinki. Our company has implemented a number of projects related to shipping with a particular focus on shipping in the Arctic region, like projects on the status and prospects of petroleum and mineral cargo shipping in the Barents Region and along the Northern Sea Route.

Next week Akvaplan-niva and Murmansk Marine Biological Institute (MMBI) co-arranges a Norwegian-Russian workshop on 'Radioecological research and monitoring in the Barents Sea and the Andreeva Bay: current status, cooperation and further prospects'. The event is held in Murmansk on board the icebreaker-museum Lenin on Tuesday, 25th of October.
