En avgangsutstilling kan sjelden, og skal vel i grunnen ikke, summeres opp med et overbyggende tema. Det er ensammenstilling av ulike kunstnerskap som kommer sammen i kraft av å ha studert på samme skole til samme tid. Styrken iutstillingen er summen av styrken i de enkelte kunstprosjektene, uavhengig av hva de tematiserer, eller hvordan deutrykker seg. Det er allikevel noen temaer som går igjen i årets masterutstilling på Trondheim kunstmuseum; sosialidentitet, det menneskeskapte landskapet, og vold - både mot mennesker og mot naturen. Flere av avgangsstudentene har prosjekter med et grunnleggende politisk eller sosialt engasjement, noen med utgangspunkt i egen historie eller bakgrunn, mens andre leker seg med sitt mediums tradisjon og ideen om representasjon.

Årets Masterutstilling fra Kunstakademiet i Trondheim har blitt en variert utstilling med markante nye stemmer. 

Disse enkeltstemmene viser at den kommende generasjon kunstnere ikke bare har et behov for å uttrykke seg, men også viser et behov for å diskutere store spørsmål og vanskelige emner om samfunnet, menneskeheten og naturen. De er ikke redd for å ta sterke posisjoner, og de evner å visuelt kommunisere dem.

A degree show can rarely, and should perhaps not, be summed up in a curatorial statement. It is a combination of artists who come together by virtue of having studied in the same school at the same time. The strength of the exhibition is the sum of the strength of the individual art projects, regardless of what issues they address, or how they are expressed. However, there are some themes that recur in this year's Masters Exhibition at Trondheim kunstmuseum: social identity, anthropogenic landscapes, and violence - both against mankind and against nature. Most of the Master students have projects expressing fundamental political or social engagement, several of them drawing from their personal history or background, while playing with the tradition of their media of choice and the idea of representation.

This year's Trondheim Academy’s MFA Exhibition has become a diverse exhibition with distinctive new voices. These individual voices bear witness of a coming generation of artists that not only have a need to express themselves, but also show a drive to address big questions and difficult issues about society, mankind and about nature. They are not afraid of taking strong positions, and they are adept at visually communicate them.
