Elme Spreaders and Timars Svet swell PEMA ranks

The Port Equipment Manufacturers Association (PEMA), the global industry body for port equipment and technology, has welcomed two new Swedish member companies, Elme Spreaders and Timars Svet. Both companies specialise in the design and manufacture of container spreaders and lifting frames for use with cranes and mobile handling equipment.

Elme Spreaders is one of the oldest names in the business, having entered the container handling industry back in 1974. Over 40 years on, the company now has customers across seven continents, including both OEM manufacturers and end users in the ports industry. Elme supplies spreaders and attachments for cranes, lift trucks, reach stackers and straddle carriers.

Timars Svet, celebrating 30 years in the business in 2015, produces container lifting spreaders, overheight and offset frames and lifting cages. The company’s container equipment is designed for use on quay cranes, mobile cranes, overhead cranes and ship-mounted cranes.

“We are delighted to welcome Elme Spreaders and Timars Svet, two pioneers in container lifting technology, as our latest members, boosting our membership to over 80 companies” said Ottonel Popesco, President of PEMA.
