Blueair Bags Major Order To Supply U.S. Embassy In Delhi, India, With 1,800 Air Purifiers

CHICAGO, USA, 7 February, 2015 – Blueair Inc, the U.S. subsidiary of Sweden's leading global maker of premium indoor air purifier technologies, confirms it has supplied 1,850 units of its mid-range 503 units to the U.S. embassy in New Delhi, the Indian capital. Recent orders also include units for U.S. government staff and families in Vietnam, Bangladesh and China.

“This latest order confirms Blueair’s position as an ‘air purifier of choice’ when it comes to protecting protect U.S. government employees and their families from health and wellbeing threats posed by polluted air,” said Blueair CEO and founder Bengt Rittri.

A vast array of international institutions, government agencies and corporations already use Blueair air purifiers, which have had their efficiency endorsed by the U.S. Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers, AHAM, and the official Shanghai consumer agency. In November 2013, Blueair won an order to supply thousands of its premium air purifiers to the U.S. embassy in Beijing, China.

The Blueair 503 with a Smokestop filter was recently described in an exhaustive, independent test of top air purifiers models by America's Fast Company Magazine as ‘the best at cleaning air as quickly as possible”. The magazine put nine air purifiers through 100 hours of research and testing conducted by an airborne particle physicist and former NOAA scientist. The magazine concluded that for people who have severe reactions to particle allergens, other health issues related to air quality, or are willing to pay a premium for ‘a machine that can be extremely efficient while running quietly’, the BlueAir 503 with the Smokestop filter package would be their pick.

“The order to India is excellent news for us as it is the second biggest order ever for our indoor air cleaners, which have won acclaim from independent agencies around the world for their ability to clean PM2.5 particles, formaldehyde and other contaminants from indoor air,” says Herman Pihlträd, president of Blueair Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sweden’s Blueair AB.

The Blueair 503 air purifier is designed to clean indoor air in rooms sized 54 sq. meters (580 sq. ft.) of up to 99.97% of airborne pollutants such as allergens, asthma triggers, viruses, bacteria and other airborne pollutants. India is reputed to have some of the worst air pollution in the world with one in three people in India said to live in critically-polluted areas that have noxious levels of nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulphur dioxide (SO2) and lung-clogging particulate matter that exceed World Health Organization thresholds.

“Delhi’s air pollution has been described as being even worse than Beijing’s smog, with about half of all doctor’s visits related to respiratory problems, according to some research. This is not something we find acceptable at Blueair, where our ethos is that everyone has the right to breathe clean air,” said. Mr. Pihlträd.
