FundedByMe appoints new global COO

Stockholm-based FundedByMe has announced the appointment of Pontus Frohde as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the firm’s global operations, effective immediately. This appointment comes on the back of the firm hitting its target of 25,000 registered members by the summer. Frohde, a Microsoft veteran with extensive international sales and marketing experience from the games and software industries, joined FundedByMe in March 2013 as the Chief Sales Officer. Since then he has been key in launching FundedByMe successfully into Norway, Spain and – in September 2013 – Germany, making it the first European crowdfunding platform to offer this level of cross-border investment opportunities.

Frohde takes over the operations role from CEO and co-founder, Daniel Daboczy, who will continue to focus on the company’s rapid expansion into new markets and remain the active spokesperson for the brand. “I am thrilled to leave the operations to a leader as capable as Pontus,” says Daboczy. “His passion for growth, strategic mindset and nimble approach to problem-solving ensures that he is perfectly positioned to lead FundedByMe to even greater successes over the coming months.”

And FundedByMe has been raking in the successes. With more than 25,500 registered users, the platform has raised more than €3 million for hundreds of crowdfunding campaigns and is set to relaunch the online platform in September 2013.

Frohde is a graduate Economist with a degree from the University of Heidelberg in Germany. He worked with Microsoft’s Consumer Division for 11 years in various positions within international sales and marketing, mainly operating out of the corporate head office in Seattle. Additionally, Frohde spent six years as Vice President of Sales and Marketing at PAN Vision - the largest independent distributor of games and film in the Nordic and Baltic regions – and he serves on the Board for a number of software brands.
