Världens vackraste bil heter Range Rover Velar
Range Rover Velar har just vunnit titeln World Car Design of the Year – eller översatt - världens vackraste bil.
Man kan det här med design hos Jaguar Land Rover.
Knappt hade de sista spåren av nyårsfyrverkerierna röjts undan innan Land Rovers chefsdesigner Gerry McGovern utsågs till Designer of the Year vid Festival Automobile International i Paris.
Nu har turen kommit till den bil han har designat. Range Rover Velar tog nämligen emot priset som världens vackraste bil – eller World Car Design of the Year, under New York Autoshow.
Det är inte första gången som Jaguar Land Rover tar emot priser för enastående design. Tidigare har Jaguar F-TYPE, Range Rover Evoque, och förra året Jaguar F-PACE, mottagit priset som World Car Design of the Year. Detta år är alltså inget undantag.
I samband med utdelningen av det prestigefyllda priset sade Ralf Speth, koncernchef Jaguar Land Rover:
"Det faktum att F-TYPE, Evoque, F-PACE och nu Range Rover Velar vinner World Car of the Year Design Award, har stor betydelse för oss. Jag känner mig hedrad och vill tacka alla jurymedlemmar för deras förtroende och stöd till Jaguar Land Rover-teamet”.
Range Rover Velar tävlade i finalen mot Volvo XC 60 och Lexus LC 500. Men juryn, som består av 82 medlemmer fra 24 olika länder, utsåg alltså Range Rover Velar till den vackraste av de tre.
Range Rover Velar lanserades förra året och är döpt efter Range Rovers konceptbil från slutet av 1960-talet. Velar, som placerar sig mellan Range Rover och Range Rover Sport i bilmärkets produktportfölj, kan fås i sex olika motorvarianter. Från den ekonomiska dieselvarianten på 180 hk till den potenta 3.0-liters bensinmotorn med sex cylindrar på 380 hk.
