Press invitation: Ultravasan and Vasastafetten 2015

Press invitation August 19 2015

Welcome to Ultravasan and Vasastafetten 2015!

It's time to focus on the 7,000 runners registered to make for the finish line in Mora. Saturday, August 22, will see the classic Vasastafetten relay race, as well as the second ever Ultravasan 45 and Ultravasan 90. Vasaloppet welcomes the media to get involved and follow these arrangements – below you will find important information and times for this summer's major running event in our forefathers' tracks.

Ultravasan

Last year's success has grown over 20 percent in its second year, and an even stronger starting field will gather this Saturday. Right now there are a total of 1819 ultrarunners registered for the two races, with 16 percent international guests from 29 different countries. 1329 are registered for Ultravasan 90 and 490 for Ultravasan 45 (2015-08-18).

Extreme runners from all over the world meet in Ultravasan to tackle the historic stretch between Sälen and Mora. Participants run at dawn over marshes, past streams and rivers, and greet the sunrise in the Swedish pine forests on the way to Mora. Ultravasan 90 is a cross-country race that starts, just like the traditional Vasaloppet, in Sälen and follows the course east towards Mora. The race has a gents' and ladies' class. Ultravasan 45 runs on the same day, has a gents' and ladies' class, and starts in Oxberg, following the same course.
