K'ASS led by Mei Sheum - 2 June 2011

With an impressive performance resume and several music festivals under her belt, Mei Sheum has emerged as the keyboardist of choice for many of the region’s best known artistes, including Chang Hui Mei, David Tao, Wang Lee Hom, Jacky Cheung, Andy Lau, Sally Yeh, Eason Chan, as well as local artistes such as Kit Chan, JJ Lin, Claressa Monteiro, Dick Lee, Tanya Chua and Jacintha.

Her work has taken her round the globe, where she performed in stadiums and concert halls in Las Vegas, New York, Chicago, Boston, Connecticut, Sydney, Melbourne, Hong Kong, Taipei, Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Hang Chow, Tsingtao, Wuhan, Wenzhou, Bangkok, Osaka, Jakarta and Malaysia. Her drive to deepen her understanding of the jazz genre has brought her to the US where she studied with Jim McNeely, Mark Levine and Hal Galper. She has also jammed with world-renowned artistes such as Wynton Marsalis, Ernie Watts, Eric Marienthal.

She has played in major festivals including the JakJazz Festival, Thailand Jazz Festival, Singapore Jazz Festival, KL Arts Festival, Chijazz festival, Esplanade concert series, Mosaic Festival and Heineken Green Room Sessions. She was awarded the Top 10 Songs Award on Radio FM 100.3 in their 1998 songwriting competition. As a leader, Mei has released 3 albums, I Remember You, Come With Me and Morning. She can also be heard on recordings such as Wang Lee Hom’s Heroes of Earth Live Concert DVD, JJ Lin’s Just JJ World Tour 2006, David Tao’s Soul Power Live @Hong Kong, A*Mei’s A-Class Entertainment Live DVD 2002, Sally Yeh’s Now’s My Prime DVD, Claresa Monteiro’s I Hear Music, Tanya Chua's Jupiter, Greg Chako’s Integration 1 and Integration 2, Christy Smith’s The Time Is Now, Jessica Soo’s Junk Moon, Patrice Williamsons’ My Shining Hour, Greg Lyons’ Island To Island, Blair Sherrill's Encore, and Camerton’s Remixed.
