RJ ROJALES - 7 April 2011
Dubbed by many as a ‘Total Entertainer’, this actor/singer/host has many accolades to his name which span 3 countries, namely Australia, Singapore and the Philippines.
RJ’s professional career began in 1996 when he was cast as part of the ensemble in the original Australian production of Cameron Mackintosh’s ‘Miss Saigon’. Ten years later, he came full circle by joining the 2007-2008 Australian tour of the musical, this time playing the lead role of Thuy which earned him a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the Helpmann Awards (the Australian equivalent of The Tony Awards in Broadway).
In Singapore, RJ has established himself both in television and as a favorite leading man in musical theatre. He is perhaps most well know for his role as Chang in the hit musical ‘Chang and Eng’ produced by Action Theatre which has become the longest running musical in the country. Other credits include Forbidden City, The Student Prince, Man of Letters, Cabaret (with international Asian artist Fei Xiang) and most recently as Beast in Wild Rice’s production of’ Beauty and the Beast’. In the last few years, he has held successful solo concerts including, ‘RJ From Now On’, ‘Songs from the Heart, ‘A Tribute to Frank Sinatra’ and most recently ‘A Musical Journey with RJ Rosales’. Last year, he had the privilege to perform with international jazz singer, Ms Laura Fygi.
