Sigma the winner as Microsoft appoints Partner of the Year

On Tuesday evening, Sigma won the prestigious Microsoft Partner of the Year award within Business Insight & Mission Critical. This distinction was based on Sigma's eye-catching Sensation solution in the fields of Internet of Things and Business Insight.

Microsoft's reasoning was as follows: Sigma has rapidly adopted new technology within Business Insight. They have build a solution containing many components in the Azure platform, such as HDInsight and Azure Service Bus. They have also presented one of the first examples of an application of Internet Of Things in combination with Microsoft Business Analytics.

"We feel very honored and proud to have won this award as Partner of the Year. And the fact that we have done this in the prestigious Business Insight & Mission Critical area feels like an extra feather in our cap," says David Österlindh, Sigma IT & Management.

"Developing an IoT service like Sensation requires leading-edge expertise within several different areas. This is Sigma's particular strength, where our experience of developing mobile products gives us the capability to adapt sensors and wireless communications for data collection to our customers' needs," says Fredrik Hedlund, CEO, Sigma Connectivity.

More than 700 partners were gathered at the Microsoft Partner Day, at which Sigma also had spot in the limelight. Sigma gave a brief description of its eye-catching Sensation solution, a software service based on Microsoft Azure, where Sigma combines wireless sensors with modern IT solutions and analysis tools to ascertain facts and new patterns that have previously been impossible to extract. Sensation can be applied to just about anything, and what is unique is the combination of sensor networks along with the collection and analysis of the data that the sensors provide.

"I have worked in close partnership with Microsoft for 20 years, and I can see and recognize that Sigma is now spot on in several applications based on Microsoft's solutions and services that are in demand on the market. We have both the breadth and the depth, and we have never had as many Gold Competencies as we have right now, which guarantees that we will be developing really interesting customer solutions in future and helping our customers to become successful. This is our mission," concludes Peter Lindblom, Sigma's MS Partner Manager.
