Share in a Feast of Renaissance Culture With Fred. Olsen

One such voyage of discovery, with a very attractive itinerary, is Boudicca’s Renaissance Culture cruise of 16 nights, departing Southampton on 15th September 2008. The cruise visits some of the most important places in the history of European culture, including Cadiz, Nice, Rome and Naples. The experts hosting this cruise are Dr. David Cross, an art historian and novelist and Ronald Gatepain, an architectural historian. Their considerable knowledge and expertise will add greatly to the understanding of participants in this cultural tour and the cruise includes no fewer than eight special excursions – among them Cultures of Jerez, from Cadiz; Florence and Its Renaissance, from Livorno and Pompeii from Naples.

In Florence, a walking tour takes in the Cathedral of Santa Maria dei Fiore, Medici chapels, the Piazza della Signoria and the Ponte Vecchio. Rome is another highlight of this cruise, with the tour encompassing some of the great museums with paintings by Reubens, Bellini and Caravaggio, as well as some of the city’s finest churches,

Sardinia offers visits to the ruins of the Phoenician city of Nora, a site which also has Carthaginian and Roman relics, and was engulfed by the sea in the 3rd century AD.

Tangier, the, last port of call, is the gateway to Morocco and offers a rich mix of cultural influences – visit the Cape Spartel lighthouse and Museum de la Kasbah housed in what was the Sultan’s Palace.

Of course Civilisations customers also get to enjoy everything available to other cruisers – the superb meals, the many excellent facilities on board ship and the nightly entertainment on board. But their participation in the Civilisations programme will allow them to get so much more form the trip and will leave a deeper impression of the ports visited.

There is currently a 48% discount available on this cruise, so prices start from £1,727 for the cruise, with the optional Civilisations package charged at an additional £469 per person. Prices are per person, based on two sharing a twin-bedded cabin and include all meals and entertainment on board and port taxes.

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines

At Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines we are very proud of our smaller ships – Bolette, Borealis and Balmoral - and the imaginative and unusual itineraries they allow us to offer. Every cruise is hand-crafted from scratch by our team of in-house Journey Planners to make sure you are not only visiting the best destinations, but at the best time to experience them.

For us, it’s not just about where we go but how we take you there. We put as much time into planning scenic cruising as we do in choosing the destinations themselves. On board, our Signature Experiences showcase the history, culture, nature and flavours of the destinations you’ll visit – from Treats of the Region, where you can enjoy local delicacies, to our Sky at Sea star-gazing sessions where you can relax with a hot toddy out on deck while our astronomer talks you through the night sky.

Plus, with each ship carrying 1,300 guests or less, our ships are small enough for us to offer a warm, friendly and personal service where nothing is ever too much trouble, as we visit a host of exciting ports in every corner of the globe.
