Press release -

Deadline fast approaching for responses to Council’s Local Development Plan

Time is running out for the people of Mid and East Antrim to have their say on the next stage of Council’s new planning framework, with the Online Consultation Hub closing at 5pm on Wednesday December 11.

The Draft Plan Strategy sets out how our borough will grow and change up to the year 2030, and clearly defines Council’s ambitions and policies for employment, infrastructure, housing and sustainable growth.

Developed following extensive consultation with the public, stakeholders and elected members, the Draft Plan Strategy has been subject to an eight-week statutory consultation process.

The Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor Maureen Morrow, said: “This plan sets out the key findings following two years of research. Its purpose now is to get your views so we can shape and develop a planning framework that will be used in determining planning decisions.

“We need to produce a strong and effective plan, one that supports economic growth and innovation, infrastructure, the right mix of housing, schools and more.

“I would encourage as many people as possible to submit their responses to the Online Consultation before the closing date of Wednesday December 11 2019 at 5pm. It is important that we hear the opinions of our communities at this crucial point in our future planning.”

Council Chief Executive Anne Donaghy said: “This plan is not just about us and how we currently live. This is a plan for our children, older people within our community - everybody.

“This is a roadmap to create a stronger borough with more employment and improved quality of life within Mid and East Antrim.”
