Miniature PV Connector System for Facade Modules

To aid the installation of PV systems integrated in buildings, Phoenix Contact has developed a family of miniature connectors that are mounted invisibly behind the PV modules or directly in the facade framework. Thanks to carefully selected components, the product series offers long-term durability – even under difficult climatic conditions.

The miniature connectors have an outer diameter of 11 mm and are especially suitable for thin film and BIPV (Building Integrated Photovoltaic) modules. Featuring IP67 protection and a high power rating (15 A, 1000 V), they are extremely versatile and take up little space as a result of their compact dimensions. The turned, silver-plated contacts prevent friction corrosion and ensure long-term electrical stability owing to their precious metal surface. In addition to solar technology, these connectors are also suitable for applications in machine and plant construction, in electrical systems installed for events, marine engineering, underground car parks and greenhouses.

Phoenix Contact also provides a diode box (string diode) for the purpose of avoiding feedback currents. These can occur in thin film modules as a result of sudden shading. The rugged housing and the low-profile design ensure stability and reliability. The connectors are rated for up to 5 A and system voltages up to 1000 V. The product line is plug compatible and offers users a standardised system for wiring a PV system.
