Amy Bushell of Cabernet Marketing is proud to work in an industry with no gender pay gap

A 2018 governed report has revealed almost 90% of women in the UK work for companies that pay them less than their male colleagues. Female business owner Amy Bushell is proud to operate in an industry where pay isn’t based on gender.

“This is one of the only industries in the world that doesn’t pay women any less than men, and I am incredibly proud of that,” Miss Bushell shared during a speech at a recent industry conference.

The Cabernet Marketing Managing Director took to the stage to address delegates at an industry conference in London. After the event ended, Miss Bushell was approached by many female delegates who felt empowered by her speech.

“It was something that really resonated with people, and I received a lot of great feedback,” commented the business owner.

All employers in the UK with at least 250 staff were required to report their pay gap between male and female employees. Around 10,100 employers reported data for 2017/18. The figures revealed that 78% of reporting employers paid male employees more than female. Shockingly more than three out of four UK companies pay their male employees more.

In nine out of seventeen sectors men earn an average of 10% more than their female counterparts. According to the Office for National Statistics, nationally, the gender pay gap is 18.4%. Financial Times analysis of the government data, combined with information from Duedil, which covers two-thirds of employers, showed that only 11% of women work for an employer that pays them equally or better.

Cabernet Marketing Managing Director, Amy Bushell believes that everyone deserves to have the same earning potential, regardless of age, sex or gender. The business owner is proud to operate an industry where pay is performance-based and uncapped.

“One of the biggest grievances for women in work is the pay gap. They may work a lot harder than their male colleagues but receive a lower rate of pay. In this industry, people have the power to control their earnings. With a performance-based pay structure people get out what they put in,” commented Miss Bushell.
