Simplx unmoved at statistics showing consumers abandoning online shopping carts and not purchasing

Sydney-based outsourced sales and marketing specialists Simplx have commented on new findings from the recently released 2018 Consumer Propensity Study, which illustrate that more than half of Australians ditch online shopping carts before making a purchase.

Simplx: About the Company

Pronounced ‘Sim-plex’, the firm’s philosophy is that people buy into the experience of a brand as well as the product, looking for the human connection when making their purchasing decision. It is in part because of this belief that they believe online shopping has its limitations - not just in regard to high shipping costs.

According to the2018 Consumer Propensity Study, Australian consumers have a high tendency to abandon virtual shopping carts, particularly in the product categories of fashion (67%) and furniture (65%). Simplx believe that, more concerning, is the statistic that 46% are only using online shopping as a way to compare prices with other brands and websites.

“While many of us shop online - it does have its flaws. Time and time again we ask if it’s really worth shopping online when you could just make a fun trip to visit stores you love at your own pace - often saving money and time,” states Dave Locke, Simplx’s Managing Director.

Although Locke acknowledges that sometimes it can be convenient to shop online, and can support startups not present in mainstream retailers, the overriding emotion about it is one of uncertainty.

Simplx believe that advances to picture and video editing software means that some things look a lot better online than they do in the real world. The attractiveness of items are usually exaggerated to seem more appealing, and the firm believes more and more consumers are growing savvy to this.

Just as some people prefer shopping in-person opposed to online, especially when buying clothes, elements of marketing will always need a physical, face to face presence states sales and marketing experts Simplx.
