Heritage Healthcare set to Make May Purple for the Stroke Association
Heritage Healthcare in Darlington is supporting the Stroke Association’s national awareness month, Make May Purple, to raise vital funds for people affected by stroke.
The Stroke Association is calling on everyone to sign up to Make May Purple in 2017. During the month of May, the charity is encouraging everyone to go purple and raise vital funds, to show support for people who have been affected by stroke.
Heritage Healthcare is showing its support by hosting a purple day on Friday 05 May and gearing up for a bake sale at the Darlington offices on Friday 26 May. Staff are also heading to Darlington Stroke Club on Monday 15 May to speak with stroke survivors, their families and volunteers about their experiences, as well as delivering purple sweet treats.
The homecare provider was inspired to support the awareness month, after marketing assistant Morgan McAllister, 22 from Darlington, was personally affected by stroke.
Morgan said: “Both my grandads have had strokes and as a family we have experienced enormous changes in their behaviour and personality. Their quality of life has been affected, as well as their ability to take part in day to day activities.
“Their lives have changed drastically and it was my personal experience which drove me to encourage the company to get involved. We’re keen to raise funds for the Stroke Association to help stroke survivors and their families to get the support they need.”
Jo Beverley, Community and Events Fundraiser at the Stroke Association, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to the Heritage Healthcare team for all their support throughout the month and helping to put the spotlight on stroke.
“This year we’re also calling on the local community to get involved in Make May Purple. Whether you choose to hold a bake sale, take part in an event or get sponsored to dye your hair, there are so many easy ways to show your support.
“Across the UK, more than a million people are rebuilding their lives after stroke. By supporting Make May Purple you can help us to make sure stroke gets the attention it deserves and to raise vital funds for innovative research into stroke care and treatment.”
