Isle of Man landmarks shine bright to help Make May Purple for Stroke

Isle of Man landmarks shone brightly in purple on Monday 01 May to launch the Stroke Association’s annual awareness month: Make May Purple.

The Tower of Refuge, Ramsey Harbour Swing Bridge and the Power Station in Douglas will each light in purple until Thursday 04 May.

The Stroke Association is calling on everyone to sign up to Make May Purple in 2017. During the month of May, the charity has partnered with the Stroke Unit at Nobles Hospital and the Manx Stroke Foundation. Together they are calling on everyone to go purple and raise vital funds, to show support for people who have been affected by stroke.

Julie Clarke, Information Advice & Support Coordinator at the Stroke Association, said: “It was fantastic to see these iconic buildings turn purple to raise awareness of Make May Purple. We hope it will help put the spotlight on stroke. This year we’re calling the local community to get involved. Whether you choose to hold a bake sale, take part in an event or get sponsored to dye your hair, there are so many easy ways to show your support. Across the UK, more than a million people are rebuilding their lives after stroke. By supporting Make May Purple you can help us to make sure stroke gets the attention it deserves and to raise vital funds for innovative research into stroke care and treatment.”
