Kirkleatham Museum prepares to Make May Purple

Kirkleatham Museum in Redcar will be turning purple on Wednesday 17 May to celebrate the Stroke Association’s annual awareness month, Make May Purple.

From 10am -2pm, the charity is calling on Redcar residents to come along to a fun-filled family quiz trail at the museum and grounds. Sophellies at Kirkleatham Museum Café will be selling purple cheesecake and a purple-themed afternoon tea throughout the day, to help raise awareness.

Local staff members from the Stroke Association will also be based at the museum and grounds for the day, providing information about stroke and free blood pressure checks for visitors.

The Stroke Association is calling on everyone to sign up to Make May Purple in 2017. During the month of May, the charity is calling on everyone in Redcar to go purple and raise vital funds to show their support for people who have been affected by stroke.

Rachael Redden, Information Advice & Support Coordinator at the Stroke Association, said: “We’re inviting everyone to come along to the quiz and awareness day at Kirkleatham Museum and Grounds, and help us to put the spotlight on stroke.

“This year we’re also calling on the local community to get involved in Make May Purple. Whether you choose to hold a bake sale, take part in an event or get sponsored to dye your hair, there are so many easy ways to show your support.

“Across the UK, more than a million people are rebuilding their lives after stroke. By supporting Make May Purple you can help us to make sure stroke gets the attention it deserves and to raise vital funds for innovative research into stroke care and treatment.”
