​SK Eight set to Make May Purple for the Stroke Association

SK Eight in Stockport will be turning purple on Saturday 27 May to celebrate the Stroke Association’s national awareness month, Make May Purple.

From 10am-4pm, the café will host a fun day, including a host of family-friendly activities such as face painting, live music between 12-1pm, and a performance from the North West Stroke Association Choir. There will also be a tombola, a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses, and games for little ones.

Throughout May, the SK Eight team will also be holding fundraising activities in the shop, selling purple themed cupcakes and wearing something purple every day throughout May, to help raise awareness for the charity.

The Stroke Association is calling on everyone to sign up to Make May Purple in 2017. During the month of May, the charity is encouraging everyone to go purple and raise vital funds, to show support for people who have been affected by stroke.

Joyce Booth, Life After Stroke Co-ordinator at the Stroke Association, said: “We’re inviting everyone to come along to the fun day at SK Eight, and help us to put the spotlight on stroke. We’re incredibly grateful to the team for all their support throughout the month.

“This year we’re also calling on the local community to get involved in Make May Purple. Whether you choose to hold a bake sale, take part in an event or get sponsored to dye your hair, there are so many easy ways to show your support.

“Across the UK, more than a million people are rebuilding their lives after stroke. By supporting Make May Purple you can help us to make sure stroke gets the attention it deserves and to raise vital funds for innovative research into stroke care and treatment.”
