V.Group welcomes 2016 global engineering graduates

As part of V.Group’s continued investment in talent development, eight new global engineering graduates were formally welcomed into the business this week.

V.Group’s global graduate development programme, now in its second year, is an intensive two year programme designed to give graduates the opportunity to learn about both commercial and operational elements of our business. Eight graduates were recruited in 2015 and are now half-way through their programme.

Graduates complete international job placements in locations such as the UK, Cyprus, Monaco and Singapore to provide on the job learning as well as spending time on a vessel to obtain an understanding of ship and cargo operations and crew life onboard. At the end of the two-year programme, graduates will move into a permanent role within the Group.

This year’s graduates are from Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Bahamas and the UK with degrees covering marine engineering, naval and oceanic engineering, subsea and pipeline engineering and naval architecture for example.

Faye Carson, Group Director HR, V.Group said: “This is the second year of the global engineering graduate programme and we were once again overwhelmed with the quality of the applicants. The eight successful graduates represent the very best of what continues to be a tough decision to make. As well as creating a learning environment for our graduates, as we have discovered with our 2015 intake, we have an opportunity to learn from them too. V.Group offers a fantastic global platform for our graduates to truly launch their engineering careers.”

Clive Richardson, chief executive officer and president, V.Group added: “We’ve been very pleased with the intake from last year and I believe that this investment in their early careers benefits not only them but our business too. The 2015 graduates have been very enthusiastic and embraced their new learning opportunities – already we’re seeing the benefits as they deliver a great deal of value to the Group.”

The graduates will undertake a two week induction programme before they go off on their first assignments. The induction includes an overview to our wider organisation as well as completing the necessary training and certification to enable them to spend time in our onshore and on board locations.
