Press release -
Recharge announces 4040 new-energy leaders
Recharge has today announced the final selection for its 4040 initiative, which will bring together young new-energy pioneers in a unique forum.
The 40 are made up of a diverse group of individuals from across the globe, from the worlds of renewables technology, finance, development, social engagement and advocacy. The list includes people from major wind and solar companies, banks, investment funds, crowd-funding platforms and governments.
“We were delighted to receive nominations from companies such as Google, Solar City, Vestas, Jinko, NRG Energy, DNV-GL and many others, and from everywhere from Brazil to South Africa to China,” says Recharge Editor-in-Chief Ben Backwell. “The really inspiring thing has been to see how many young people from a diverse range of backgrounds are in leadership positions in our sector."
The 40 were selected by Recharge after extensive consultation with the industry, after almost 100 people had been nominated. Full profiles of the 40 will be published on the Recharge4040 website and in a special edition of Recharge magazine in July.
Over the coming months, Recharge4040 will carry out a series of activities to highlight the work and projects of the different members of the group. A four-person committee of 4040 ambassadors will be set up to promote the initiative, leading to a high-profile networking event to be held on 2 October at a unique location.
