Local fitness club show their support for stroke

Kate (32) and Gary Stanley (37) from Harlow showed their support for the Stroke Association by rallying in 160 stroke supporters to help them to raise funds for the charity that helped her family through a very difficult time.

Mobile fitness business owners Kate her husband Gary, and their business partner, Dan Dicker who work at Stanley4Fitness wanted to take part in The Nuts Challenge on the 30 August after Kate’s father Brain Farenden had a stroke devastating in 2012, and another in 2013.

Stanley4Firness has chosen the Stroke Association as their chosen charity and has almost raised £10,000. Kate adds: “When my dad had a stroke, we were terrified. It came as such a huge shock to our family. We run a fitness company locally in the area, and we have a lot of close friends who know the huge impact dad’s stroke had on the whole family. This made us want to pull in the support from the community to help raise awareness of stroke at The Nuts Challenge. We also wanted to thank the Stroke Association for all they have done for our family and other families who are going through the same thing. We have already raised £2,000 from the assault course, and hoping to get more donations.”

Tam Marshall, fundraiser from the Stroke Association in the East England said, “We are blown away with the team’s dedication and support to the Stroke Association. There are around 11,600 people who have a stroke every year in the East of England and over 100,000 people are living in the East of England with the effects of stroke. We’re a charity that relies on people like Kate, Gary and Dan to raise funds so we can be there for as many people as possible whose lives have been changed by stroke.”
