Elegant shapes and high-quality materials – Art Deco is back
Welcome back to the 1920s! A flourishing cultural life gave a boost to the arts and sciences in the 1920s and produced classics that still resonate today. The International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris in 1925 gave a new style of art and interior design its name: Art Deco. Joie de vivre and luxury, upswing and exuberance were captured in fine, reflective materials and opulent, lavish decorations. They were combined with elegant, abstract shapes, extravagant décors and unusual colours. Art Deco continues to inspire designers to this day, especially in interiors.
How can you introduce this style into your home? With elegant lines and geometric patterns, with curves, angles and zigzags and with a mixture of materials and colours. Luxurious precious metals such as gold, silver or chrome, reflective surfaces and geometric light/dark contrasts enhance the look even further.
